Edmonton Critical Mass

WHAT IS CRITICAL MASS?

Critical Mass is an event held typically on the last Friday of every month in cities around the world, where bicyclists, skateboarders, roller bladers, and other self-propelled people take to the streets en masse. The goal is to meet and enjoy the security and companionship of riding through the city together, while helping to promote cycling/other means of non-polluting transportation. The general philosophy is expressed by a widely used slogan: "We aren't blocking traffic; we are traffic."

Critical Mass is all about having a fun and safe bike ride with other cyclists. By doing this, we raise the profile of cyclists in Edmonton and bring a bit of life back to Edmonton's streets. There is usually a 'theme' every month, and people often dress up in costumes, bring musical instruments, and enjoy a leisurely ride. Look for the posters on cycling routes around town!

So on the last Friday of the month, come down and ride with us!

We're not blocking traffic – we are traffic!
